ShoreTel UC System Expected To Save A$30,000 In Annual Engineer's Costs For Forestry Leader ITC Limited

SYDNEY, Australia, December 1, 2009 – ShoreTel® (NASDAQ: SHOR), the leading provider of brilliantly simple IP phone systems with fully integrated Unified Communications, today announced that ITC Limited, Australia's leader in certified hardwood plantation management has calculated anticipated savings of at least A$30,000 in annual engineer's support costs following the deployment of a ShoreTel UC system.

Recently named Australian Forest Manager of the Year by the internationally recognised Forestry Stewardship Council, ITC manages more than 175,000 hectares of Tasmanian bluegum, teak, red mahogany and Indian sandalwood plantations across Australia, and has a workforce spread through some of the most remote locations in the country.

The cost analysis is based on savings of almost 600 work hours spent in servicing ITC's previous IP telephony system incidents. The ShoreTel UC system already has been deployed across 188 stations at 16 urban and regional sites throughout Australia.

"The reliability of the ShoreTel UC system has freed up our IT resources to be better spent on initiatives that directly improve our business," said Easaw Mathew, Group IT Manager. "As a result, we have gained additional resource hours which allow us more time to spend on core business projects."

The ITC implementation of the ShoreTel UC system comprises a mix of easy-to-use ShoreTel IP Telephones, models IP230 and IP560, and energy-efficient ShoreTel Voice Switches. "Our forestry business operates over urban and regional areas that are often isolated and with limited access to utilities," Mr. Mathew said. "However, employees across the company have reported high call quality, and are highly satisfied with the ShoreTel UC system and its intuitive interface, ShoreTel Call Manager."

The ShoreTel UC system was presented to ITC as a bundled solution with carriage and data services by IP telephony resellers, Flexnet. ITC customers receive a single bill for the entire solution from Telstra Business Systems.

But when Flexnet demonstrated the effectiveness of the ShoreTel solution, I was convinced that ShoreTel was the right way to go," Mr. Mathews added. "During the proposal stage, Flexnet installed a trial system showing how the ShoreTel Call Manager application integrates with our Citrix system and performs smoothly. We were extremely impressed by the performance of the system."
